Service Description

This hour long class will challenge you to help build strength and flexibility within the body, all while uncovering a deeper awareness and understanding of your self. An ability to get up and down off the floor is required to take part in this class. However, options are always given, and you are welcome to get in touch with me directly if you have any queries about the level of ability needed for the class. Within these classes, I love to break everything down so we can really build on the foundations of free and sustainable movement. In your usual yoga class, everything can move pretty quick, but I like to slow the pace down so that we can spend more time getting to know the building blocks of the postures so we can fully integrate how they should feel, and allow space for the benefits of them to arise. The very basis of my approach with these classes is helping to support more "free" movement with our bodies. Free movement meaning less aches, stiffness and more freedom and flexibility in whatever movements our bodies are capable of. What do you need to bring? Loose and flexible clothes that you'll feel comfortable exercising in. Please bring along your own mat. It helps when coming to these practices to keep an open mind, and patience. Change comes through practice, and through keeping patience in mind it can really help with the understanding that are bodies are capable, adaptable, and resilient, but we need to treat ourselves with compassion and patience while trusting that everything we're doing is beneficial for us. What to expect? A mixture of standing and seated postures with a steady awareness of the breath as we move from pose to pose. In certain poses we may linger a little longer to build on our strength and bodily awareness. Some pranayama (Breathwork) techniques will be occasionally be utilised throughout the sequence. We will always finish in Savasana, a meditative posture laying down on our backs, or seated if that would be preferable. This is a quiet, symbolic ending to the practice where we turn our attention completely inwards and allow our bodies a chance to absorb the practice its been through before continuing on with the rest of our day with our newfound awareness and intention.
